Kurt Woodley, A&R Genius behind Mary J. Blige, Cypress Hill, Big L and Sean “Puffy” Combs, Introduces his latest find:
THE ROK FAIRIES
Bronx-bred, female pop group with a Spicy Latin Flare; Edgier than The Spice Girls and Younger and More Urban than PCD
Kurt Woodley can certainly spot super-star quality when he sees it, and he has hand-picked The Rok Fairies, the Bronx-bred female pop group with a spicy Latin flare, to be the latest act he develops in his career of powerhouse moves. Over the years, Woodley has helped launch the careers of Sean “P Diddy” Combs, Mary J. Blidge, Jodeci, Big L, Alicia Keys, to name a few, and has also worked alongside Chris Schwartz (Lauryn Hill, The Fugees, Cypress Hill, Kris Kross.) Under the direction of Woodley, The Rok Fairies are prepared to whisk audiences away their magical world, where anything is possible.
At first glance, this collective of five Latina’s could have been ripped from the pages of Maxim, but underneath the sultry vocals, smart raps and glam gear, there’s another story: a former college athlete with music ambitions; a graduate of the esteemed Frank Sinatra High School for the Performing Arts ready for her big break; and never mind the specialties of the choreographer, promoter and designer each looking to make their own splash on the industry. Led by “Sassy” fairy (Alejandra), the crew of “Flawless” (Kendrie), “Jazzy” (Jasmine),”Electric” (Grecia) and “Pixie” (Daniella) are poised to take over the music industry.
Sassy Fairy already has a great deal of industry experience and has co-written and produced several songs on The Rok Fairies debut album. Sassy attended Frank Sinatra H.S. of Performing Arts where she was lead soprano of the choir and performed all over the U.S. She has also worked alongside Keyshia Cole, Lil Kim, LL Cool J, Missy Elliot, P. Diddy, The Dream, Trey Songz and others.
Flawless Fairy was part of the world famous Teens in Motion Dance and Talent Organization, the organization responsible for presenting Alicia Keys to the world. Flawless raps in English and Spanish, and is an accomplished choreographer; she’s designed and planned more than 75% of The Rok Fairies dynamic stage show.
Jazzy Fairy came to the group as a dancer for well-known Latino Hip Hop personality and rapper Talentino and Latino rap star De La Ghetto. Jazzy‘s background in club promotions has already helped The Rok Fairies land shows in the New York area.
Electric Fairy comes from a family of talent– her uncles are the world famous DJ Louie Vega and music legend Hector Lavoe. Electricis also a professional dancer with more than 10 years of experience dancing back up for major artists, such as Shakira, Kanye West, and many others.
Pixie Fairy, the only non-native New Yorker, was raised in South Florida and began performing in choirs and musicals at a young age. Pixie has performed on MTV’s “Top Pop Group”, Telemundo, and countless festivals around the country. The newest member of The Rok Fairies, Pixie is ready and eager to succeed. The Rok Fairies embrace the path of female empowerment forged by groups likeTLC, EnVogue and Destiny’s Child and are prepared to be the 21st century answer to young, professional women in need of a role model. Through The Rok Fairies‘ own experiences of struggle and success, their unique cultural background and an overall desire to break musical barriers, the group is able to relate to girls of all ages and provide a strong, confident image of perseverance and self-respect.
The Rok Fairies are currently working with some of the hottest producers in the game, including superstar dance/pop producer, Dave Anthony (Janet Jackson, Rihanna, Kelly Price, Debra Cox,) Tyrone “Black the Beast” Wright (Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, Diggy Simmons and Japanese top recording artist A.I.) plus The Rookies, a young and talented production & writing team who worked alongside The Music Manics.
